Site Information & Social Media

Site Information & Social Media

Each ITS Drupal site includes a dedicated configuration node called Site Settings. It acts as the control panel for branding, header and footer content, menu colors, and social media links that appear across every page.

The Site Settings node

The Site Settings title is usually generated from your subdomain (for example, www.drupal.msstate.edu settings). General editors can update many visual options such as colors and quick links. Certain high-level settings—custom logos, tracking tags, and some logo overrides—may be limited to administrators.

Workspace navigation tabs

The Site Settings edit screen is organized into tabs:

Header configuration

Controls the top region of the site.

  • Logo management (admin only): Change the logo link destination or replace standard university typography with an approved departmental image.

  • Color adjustments: Modify header background colors to match approved branding. If you change header colors, update the logo variant for contrast (for example, switch from a maroon logo file to a white version on dark backgrounds).

  • Quick links: Add helper links in the top-right with link text and a URL. Use internal autocomplete for on-site pages and full URLs for external destinations. See Linking.

Menu configurations

  • Bar and dropdown colors: Customize the main navigation bar and hover colors for dropdown links.

  • Dropdown interactivity: Toggle dropdown behavior if your unit prefers a flat menu without hover submenus.

Footer information

  • Footer logo (admin only): Adjust footer logo destination or override with an approved image.

  • Logo title and link: Edit the text and path associated with the footer emblem.

  • Contact and address: Update department name, building or room details, phone, email, and fax listings shown site-wide.

Social media links

Add official departmental social profiles as icon shortcuts. Choose placement:

  • In the top-right corner next to header quick links, or

  • Centered above the footer.
